Perlite (Course) 20 qt
Perlite is a popular growing medium that is made from expanded volcanic rock and does not degrade over time. It serves as a good growing media for plants in containers, and it helps to loosen heavy soils and improve outdoor gardens. Perl-Lome is a very fine grade of perlite that is specifically designed to hold a lot of water, prevent compaction, and maintain aeration. In outdoor applications the superior water-holding capacity of Perl-Lome is much more important than the drainage characteristics of the coarser traditional horticultural grades.
ADVANTAGES OF HORTICULTURAL PERLITE: ? Improves soil structure ? Reduces or prevents cracking and crusting of the soil surface ? Increases water-holding capacity and fertilizer retention ? Makes possible a more even distribution of the root system throughout the entire growing media ? Prevents soil compaction ? Reduces over-watering and under-watering losses due to the near-ideal air-water relationship that is developed in the growing medium ? Improves aeration and drainage ? Makes moisture and nutrients readily available to plants ? Is inorganic and does not deteriorate ? Has an essentially neutral pH of 6.5 to 7.5 ? Serves as an insulator to reduce extreme soil-temperature fluctuations ? Is sterile and free of weeds and disease ? Is clean, odorless, lightweight, and safe to handle
